Over the last year, Age Verification has become a sweeping requirement on
various platforms, from Discord to Steam to Xbox. The process typically
involves some sort of facial capture, either a selfie or video that can
estimate a user's age, or proof of age via upload of an official ID, like a
license or passport.

Now, according to some reports, it appears the process has made its way to
PlayStation users in the United Kingdom and Ireland, with users being greeted
by a message when they turn on their PlayStation 5 consoles.

As Push Square reported, the message provides users with a QR code that will
take them to Sony's website, where they can officially begin the process.

"As part of our compliance with global regulations, you’ll need to verify
your age later this year to continue using PlayStation communication
features, such as messages and voice chat," the message reads.

If you do not comply by June, the following features won't be available to
