Humberto Cruz, one of the Padres' top pitching prospects, pleaded guilty to a
federal misdemeanor stemming from a human smuggling operation in Arizona,
according to court documents, and as the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
Cruz self-deported to Mexico, sources said.
